Don’t Give Up, Don’t Ever Give Up

Friends, are you going through one of those times when it seems every attempt to resolve a problem is met with a new difficulty? You thank the Lord at night that it’s taken care of but awake to find that something else has gone wrong and the problem remains.

As I was reading the gospel of Luke, I was surprised by the opening words of Chapter 18. Whenever you read the Word of God, you always find something new, or should I say God always reveal something new to you.

Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. We should do the same.

Luke 18:1
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

I have read the story of the persistent widow many times but never grasped why Jesus told it Luke 18:2-8. We have to connect the opening words with the story. Always pray and never give up. Prayer is not a means of coercing God to do what we want, It is a process of recognizing His power and plan for our lives. In prayer we yield our lives and circumstances to the Lord and trust Him to act in His time and in His way.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

As we rely on God’s grace not only for the outcome of our prayer request but for the process as well, we can keep coming to the Lord in prayer, trusting His wisdom and care for us.

Our Lord’s encouragement to us is clear: ALWAYS PRAY AND DON’T GIVE UP.

Heavenly Father, in the difficulty I face today, guard my heart, guide my words, and show your grace. May I always turn to You in prayer.

      1. Amen. One of the things I enjoy to see is when brothers and sisters in Christ are encouraging each other that strengthens and shows that we are united in Jesus Christ. This world is getting worst and it has started (in the USA) to persecute Christians. We must stand for the Truth as Christians in agreement doctrinally. God bless you.

  1. Prayer is relationship and relying on God. He always speaks and answers. His ways are not our ways, but it is a two way conversation. We listen to his voice in prayer and it always strengthens us. Thank you for your encouraging post.
