Make Me A Witness

Acts 8:35
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Preached unto him Jesus: First-century Jews did not speak much about a suffering Messiah. The Jewish people, facing the yoke of Roman rule, believed that the Messiah would come as the Lion of Judah, a delivering king, not a lamb. They believed and taught that the suffering One spoken of by Isaiah was the suffering nation of Israel. Most likely this eunuch had heard the “official” teaching of this Scripture in Jerusalem but still had some questions. Today, I believe there are many people with questions. Philip showed him that the suffering One was Jesus. The Lord Jesus had to suffer on the Cross for the sins of all of humanity.

Acts 22:15
For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

For you and I will be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard.

Christ is here called that Just One; for he is Jesus Christ the righteous. The great Gospel duty, to which by our baptism we are bound, is to seek for the pardon of sin.

Acts 22:16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Calling on the name of the Lord saves us. Baptism is an open declaration of that calling. Please Read Romans 10:9-13.

Just as the Ethiopian eunuch had been to Jerusalem to worship, being “religious”; you and I going to church doesn’t mean we know the Lord as our personal Savior. The Ethiopian, just as you and I go empty and return empty. We need someone to guide us along our way.

Acts 8:31
And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

We must do as Philip did, and tell somebody all we know about Jesus.

We may have the best of everything but without Jesus we have nothing.

My fellow followers of Christ, there are hungry lost people and family members out there. We won’t find them in church on Sunday. Reaching out to them might take some effort on our part. Like Philip, WE NEED TO OPEN OUR MOUTHS because how else will they understand unless someone should guide them.

Time is running out. Family members, love ones and friends.

Heavenly Father, give me a burden for a lost world that needs Jesus. Make me a witness for You.

If you are reading this and do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would like to extend this invitation to you to receive the gift of salvation today. You can do so by praying and truly believing the prayer below, or by praying to God in your own Words.

I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.

When we accept salvation, God saves us immediately, and makes us fit for entrance into Heaven, however some changes God will empower you to make easily, while making other changes will be a process that may take months or even years to make. Regardless of your situation, I assure you that the Lord loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and He will be with you every step of the way. Pray, study God’s Word and ask Him to give you revelation of what you are reading. I also pray that the Lord will direct you to a true Bible teaching, Jesus loving church, where you can have the support of other believers.
