He Came To Save

Matthew 1:20-21
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Luke 19:10
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

I want to let you know that Jesus Christ came to earth with a specific mission. It was a mission motivated by love for mankind. And that mission was to liberate you and I from the consequences of a life of sin; And to give us a new life of victory. The Good News of the Gospel is that Christ’s mission was successful, and the choice now rests with you and I as to whether to receive or reject God’s gift.

God’s Word lets us know that you and I inherited a sin nature, as a result of Adam’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Try as hard as many people might, there is no possible way, by human strength alone, to avoid committing sinful acts. Furthermore, the Word lets us know that if we say that we have never committed sin, the truth is not in us.

Sin is the willful transgression of God’s law; And even if you are a person who doesn’t currently believe in the God of the Bible, your sin WILL eventually negatively impact other people…which is an issue.

For example…

Perhaps you are a person who enjoys consuming alcoholic beverages with your buddies, but when you have too many drinks and choose to get behind the wheel…you are putting your life and the life of others in danger.
When you know you’re married; And you enter into an affair…you run risks like: bringing home an STD to your spouse, emotionally harming your spouse and kids as a result of a messy divorce.
If you are committing illegal business practices…Not only are you potentially looking at future prison time, but what about all of the people who work with or for you who will have their job stability impacted by your actions?
Perhaps you are a crooked preacher, and you’re falsely representing God, so that you can get rich and be popular with people all over the world…how many people could potentially be turned away from the Christian faith, after your prideful or greedy ways are exposed?

And ultimately God’s Word issues this warning…

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

God does not want to frighten people into serving Him, however for any person who of their own free will chooses to reject God’s gift of salvation and the relationship of the creator, a place devoid of love and plenteous in suffering awaits them when their mortal life ends.

All of us have been impacted by the Corona Pandemic in some manner, seen the suffering brought about by various natural disasters, and experienced the division brought about by racial tensions and strong political views. We live in a sinful world, and it will only get worse because many men and women are looking for solutions in the wrong places. Man made laws and academic curriculums cannot provide a permanent solution for what is a spiritual problem….Only Jesus can do this. It is the commission of every “born again” believer to share and demonstrate the fruits of the Word of God through our words and actions, such that someone who is lost in their sins might ask what they must do to be saved.

God is real; And He is not a distant deity. He is a loving Father and is very active working in the lives of those who call upon Him with a sincere heart. It is only by God’s mercy that this world has not fallen into total chaos. God loves men and women…even the ones who shake their fists at Him in defiance, HOWEVER a time will come when the ways of the unbelieving will be brought to an end.

Jesus Christ left His Heavenly home, and came in the form of a man, to be; mocked, lied on, beaten to a bloody pulp, and then crucified on a cross. He bore your sins and mine upon Himself. THEN He rose from the dead with all power in His hand, and secured eternal life for you and I, if we choose to accept His gift.

In this life, when we hurt other people, they may not be willing to forgive us, but when we approach God with a contrite heart and invite Jesus Christ into our heart; And ask Him to cleanse us from our wicked ways…HE FORGIVES US AND MAKES US RIGHTEOUS. The Holy Spirit then operates in the life of the believer to: provide revelation of God’s written Word as you study, help break sinful habits, bestow wisdom for decision making, and comfort when times get tough.

If you truly want Christ in your heart, He will meet you right where you are. You don’t have to physically be in a church to receive salvation. The Lord will save you at your home, at the park, as you sit parked on the side of eh road. I even heard a friend of mine share that they’d prayed thee sinner’s prayer while sitting on the toilet.

John 6:37
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I wish all of my readers a Very Merry Christmas!

If you are a “born again” Christian, continue to love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and strength; And love others by treating them the way you’d like to be treated. Let your light shine…And tell someone else about Jesus and how HE CAME TO SAVE.

If you are unsaved, while there is yet breath in your body, you can receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. He is listening for your call. You can pray to Him in your own words, or by praying and truly believing the prayer below:

I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.

When we accept salvation, God saves us immediately, and makes us fit for entrance into Heaven, however some changes God will empower you to make easily, while making other changes will be a process that may take months or even years to make. Regardless of your situation, I assure you that the Lord loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and He will be with you every step of the way.

Pray, study God’s Word and ask Him to give you revelation of what you are reading. I also pray that the Lord will direct you to a true Bible teaching, Jesus loving church, where you can have the support of other believers.

  1. Great post. And I see that people’s hearts got so hard in the Old Testament, that God allows them to suffer His wrath. I’m not as familiar with the Old Testament and with each page I read, I think “I do not want to be like these people and break God’s heart.” Merry Christmas Marques!

  2. Just to let you know, I’m having some issues with “following” you. I was following you, but your site showed the Follow button this morn, not Following. So I clicked the button but it won’t go to Following. And I left a comment but it isn’t showing. Not sure what’s happening but want to spend time with God, not WordPress so just letting you know that I am a follower of your posts, whether WordPress allows it or not!

    1. Hi, Marla! Our Lord is a God of love, but He’s also a God of justice. He can’t allow sin to go unpunished, and that’s where His wrath comes in. I am grateful, and I know you are also, that God saw fit to ensure that someone shared the Gospel with us, and when we heard it we responded by accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord. One day we will see our Savior face-to-face. What a wonderful day that will be!

Yep, I’m not sure what’s going on, with WP. I have been experiencing the same issues with being able to Follow new sites, over the past few days.

I appreciate you Following my site; And I pray that you and your family will have a Very Merry Christmas!

  3. I like reading the OT bc every page shows God’s power. We have been studying Isaiah in ladies study and that’s pretty rough to comprehend but I try. I’m reading Jeremiah on my own and understand that better.

Yes, what a wonderful day that will be!

Thanks for the heads up with WordPress. Good to know. Glad I made the right decision to spend time with God vs figuring out WordPress issues. 🙂

    Merry Christmas to you also!
