The Race Of Faith

This post was written by one of my Christian brothers in the faith, Terrance.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 I returned and saw under the sun that
The race is not to the swift
Nor the battle to the strong
Nor the bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding
Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.

Just as it will happen to each of us. Which race will you run. The race of the wise man or the race of the fool?

We’d like to think that the best always win, that the deserving are always rewarded. But our life experiences show that these expectations are not always realized. Not to the swift, not to the strong, not to the wise, not to the men of understanding and not to the men of skill.

You see the swift, strong, wise, men of understanding and men of skill are enjoyed by different individuals. We plan and count our assets such as being swift, strong, wise, understanding and skilled. But God in the end will determine our status.

1. Who was speedier than Asahel? 2d Samuel 2:18
2. The strong, who was stronger than Sampson? Judges 16
3. The wise, who was wiser than Solomon? 1 King 11:1-25
4. The understanding, who was more understanding than Ahithopel? 2nd Samuel 16:23;17:5-14.
5. The skilled, who was more skilled than Moses? Exodus 2:11-15, Acts 7:22

Each one of these men met his limit and was countered by God.

When you run your race, you should run with endurance. Hebrews 12:1 The cloud of witnesses refers to the people of faith mentioned in Hebrews chapter 11. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, the parents of Moses. Do you have the faith of Isaac, Jacob and Joseph?

Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the world were framed by the Word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

In running the race 1 Corinthians 15:33-34 Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits. (34) Awake to righteousness, and do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

We are to avoid close fellowship with “professing” Christians who choose to live immoral lives. Evil company corrupts good habits. You and I are to stay away from those who teach and speak false doctrine.

Therefore, how You and I choose to run our race truly indicates how we live our lives.

2d Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? Please read 2d Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 5:15-17; and Striving for a Crown 1 Corinthians 9:24.

WE ARE TO DO THE WILL OF GOD, WHICH EXPRESSES A SPIRITUAL ALLEGIANCE THAT GOES BEYOND LOYALTY TO OUR OWN BIOLOGICAL FAMILY. SPIRITUAL KINSHIP IS DETERMINED NOT BY BLOOD OR RACE BUT IS DETERMINED BY OUR OBEDIENCE TO GOD.

If you do not know Jesus as your personal Savior, while there is yet breath in your body, you can receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. He is listening for your call. You can pray to Him in your own words, or by praying and truly believing the prayer below:

PRAYER OF SALVATION:
God,
I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.
