How can You and I be an effective witness for Christ in a lost world?

A “witness” is someone who attests to a fact, so in order to be an effective witness for Christ, you and I must have firsthand knowledge of Him.

I John 1:1-3
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Today, You and I, who have experienced new life in Christ can give account of His love and forgiveness, both verbally and in the way that we live our lives. Folks, this is witnessing.

To be an effective witness, you and I should remember the basic things:

1. THE THEME OF OUR WITNESS IS JESUS CHRIST.

Apostle Paul defined the gospel as the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I Corinthians 15:1-4
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

If we are not explaining the sacrifices of Christ, then You and I are not really sharing the gospel.

I Corinthians 2:2
For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Romans 10:9-10.
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

2. THE POWER OF OUR WITNESS IS THE HOLY SPIRIT.

It is the Spirit who transforms a life.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

As You and I witness, we should spend much, much time in prayer, appropriating the Spirit’s power so that we are enabled to let our light shine in such a way that others will recognize the power of God in us.

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

3. THE VALIDITY OF OUR WITNESS WILL BE SHOWN IN HOW WE(YOU AND I) LIVE OUR LIVES Our words will always have more power and influence, if we are a doer of what we tell others. We must practice what we preach.

Philippians 2:15
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Folks, as effective Christian witnesses, you and I must live our lives above reproach in the power of the Holy Spirit, whose fruit we exhibit when we remain in Christ. Please read John 15:1-8 and Galatians 5:22-23.

You and I must be familiar enough with the Scriptures to be able to accurately and coherently present the Gospel to others. We must always, always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have. 1 Peter 3:15.

Being prepared means diligent Bible study, memorizing Scripture, and praying for God given opportunities to share with those whose hearts have been prepared by the Lord to hear His message of salvation.

If you are reading this and do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would like to extend this invitation to you to receive the gift of salvation today. You can do so by praying and truly believing the prayer below, or by praying to God in your own Words.

PRAYER:
God,
I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.

When we accept salvation, God saves us immediately, and makes us fit for entrance into Heaven, however some changes God will empower you to make easily, while making other changes will be a process that may take months or even years to make. Regardless of your situation, I assure you that the Lord loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and He will be with you every step of the way. Pray, study God’s Word and ask Him to give you revelation of what you are reading. I also pray that the Lord will direct you to a true Bible teaching, Jesus loving church, where you can have the support of other believers.

    1. Hi, Ms. Oneta

      The evil one is indeed a slanderer, however Revelation 12:11 lets us know that we overcome his schemes by the blood of Jesus and by the word of our testimony.

      I heard someone once say that, “When the devil shows up to remind us of our past, we can remind him of his future.”

      As believers; you, myself, and all of our other brothers and sisters have a home with Jesus in Heaven; And the devil’s future residence is in the lake of fire and brimstone.
