What Truly Matters

Troy and his girlfriend, Katrina, had just left a cookout; And between conversing with Katrina about how much fun they’d had hanging out with their friends, and jamming to the Gospel music on the radio, Troy had not realized that he was now driving 10 over the speed limit. He saw the lights, then he heard the siren.

After pulling over to the side of the road, initially Troy’s hart began to race as he glance back to see the white officer exiting the patrol car, but then Troy remembered the guidance his parents had given him about how to conduct himself if he ever found himself in this situation. Troy advised Katrina to stay calm, he whispered a quick prayer, and then rolled down his window to converse with the officer.

The officer asked to see Troy’s license and registration…Troy complied.
The officer inquired where Troy was heading, and the young man politely explained that he and his girlfriend had just left a friend’s cookout, and he was now taking his girlfriend home before heading home himself.
The officer asked if Troy knew why he’d been stopped? Troy made no excuses, and admitted that he knew he’d exceeded the speed limit.
The officer wanted to look around the interior of the car and check the trunk; And troy had nothing to hide, so he complied.

The officer noticed Troy’s Bible in the backseat, and opened it to where Troy had it bookmarked. After reading what Troy had highlighted, the officer glanced up with a smile. “Psalm 1:1-3 is one of my favorite passages. Are you two kids saved?” the officer inquired. Both Troy and Karina replied, “Yes.”

“Jesus is my Lord and Savior also.” The officer replied. “You kids are very respectful. I wish every interaction could go like this. I’ll tell you what. I’m going to let you go with a warning this time.”

Troy thanked the officer; And they both went their separate ways.

The above is an account of what happened to a young man, from The church that I attend, last weekend.

Everyone has their thoughts about Black Lives Matter and blue Lives Matter.

I am an African American man, but more importantly I am a “born again” servant of Jesus Christ. This means that I am able to(as every born again believer should) see clearly that Satan is the mastermind behind: the crimes in our streets, the racism, the agenda to defund the police, and every other evil thing that occurs in this world.

The Word of God lets us know, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” This lets us know that it is our sin nature; Our sinful pride, our rebellion against the things of God, and our sneakiness in attempting to hide our ungodly prejudices behind masks of self-righteousness that causes men and women to yield to the influences of the Wicked One.

Drug abuse is sin, Getting drunk is sin, rioting is sin, Fighting the police is sin, Hatred against any group of people is sin…And all of it will take a person to Hell.

It is not God’s desire that anyone should perish, but that all of us would choose to accept His gift of Salvation; And then show forth Godly love for one another, while warning the unsaved of the dangers of continuing on in their sins.

Troy and Katrina could have had a similar fate as George Floyd, BUT to God Be the Glory, they received Christ when the Gospel was shared with them; And they allowed the Holy Spirit to lead them to respect the policeman’s authority by complying with is orders.
Today, the officer could very well be facing a similar fate as Derek Chauvin, However, he had the goodness and grace of Jesus Christ to guide his decisions.

We don’t need to defund the police, We need more sincerely saved police officers. If I get into a bad situation, I would be grateful for the assistance of an unbiased police officer In those situations where it is determined that an officer’s actions were the result of racist beliefs…there does need to be some serious consequences for that officer.

We live in a sinful world, and racism is a real issue. Every situation is not racism though. We need lawyers and advocates to look into each case and carefully gather all of the facts. Most importantly, there needs to be stronger Christian mentorship in communities to witness to the lost. All of us, who are believers, can pray and continue to share the undiluted Gospel with people in our circle of influence.

The cases of having a bad encounter with a police officer will greatly decrease if a person is saved. The Holy Spirit will lead and guide that person away from doing the things that would be illegal; And would create a need to interact with an officer. Even in the event, that a believer did have an encounter with an officer, the Holy Spirit would help that person to remain calm and comply with the officer’s instructions.

John 3:16 says that, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

When Jesus endured the cross, He did it with Black Lives, White Lives, Asian Lives, Police Lives, and every life in mind.

The truth is that there will be people of every race and nation in both Hell and Heaven.

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
Is there sin in your heart that you try to hide from others or even justify holding onto? Ask God to remove these hidden sins. Let nothing keep you from fully serving Christ, and allowing your life to testify to His goodness.

All Lives Matter to God.

Have your sins been washed in the red blood of the Lamb? Because that is What Truly Matters.

If you are reading this and do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would like to extend this invitation to you to receive the gift of salvation today. You can do so by praying and truly believing the prayer below, or by praying to God in your own Words.

I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.

When we accept salvation, God saves us immediately, and makes us fit for entrance into Heaven, however some changes God will empower you to make easily, while making other changes will be a process that may take months or even years to make. Regardless of your situation, I assure you that the Lord loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and He will be with you every step of the way.

Pray, study God’s Word and ask Him to give you revelation of what you are reading. I also pray that the Lord will direct you to a true Bible teaching, Jesus loving church, where you can have the support of other believers.

  1. It touched me. It is so evident you love the Lord with all your heart. Posts like yours strengthen me. I have a problem with anger anymore bc the world is going downhill so quickly. The sermon came from Matthew 14 today where Jesus reprimands his disciples. Jesus healed the epileptic boy where the disciples could not. Jesus told them they need to stop relying on themselves and have faith in Jesus and that is where the power comes from. It makes me realize that even though i feel my anger is justified bc sin is rampant and I can’t do much, I need to read God’s word more vs any news and pray more instead of just being mad at the injustice. I need more faith that Jesus is not surprised by any event, He will ultimately win. Please keep me in your prayers.

    1. As believers, we can display our righteous agenr, which means we despise the sin in the world. Where many ofus get into trouble is when our anger causes us to start hating the person who commits the sin.

Your Blog posts are a blessing to me, as well. I will definitely continue to keep you in my prayers, as you do the same for me.

      1. Thank you for your wise counsel. May I ask how you control your thoughts of anger when you are bombarded by news feeds and all the sick events happening, more and more Christian friends making wrong choices bc they are convenient vs truly sticking with Jesus (even if you have to suffer over it), etc. Sometimes I get mad and judge the person initially but confess that and pray for them. But watching the world go downhill at lightening speed without any control over it, I don’t know how to stop being angry about it I guess. If you have any tips, I’d appreciate it! Yes, I will start praying for you to stand strong, as you have been.

      2. The best advice I can give you is to.

        1. Continue to bring all of your concerns before God in prayer.
        2. Limit your intake of the various news channels.
        3. It is definitely sad to see people falling away from the faith, and the world growing darker and darker, but all of these things were foretold of in the Bible. These events let us know that the Bible is true; And that Christ’s return draws near.

I am grateful that my immediate family is saved, but I still have; uncles, aunts, and cousins, along with old friends whom are not saved. All we can do is share the Gospel with them, and pray that those dear to us will choose Christ before they breathe their last breath. The greatest gift God gave to mankind, next to salvation, is the power of free will.

      3. Thank you so much. I made a screenshot of your wisdom. God knew I needed this counsel as He sees and allows me to struggle. I will follow every word you wrote. You have a good perspective like the horrible events are making the Bible shine loud and clear. And the Rapture keeps me going right now. And I need to remember to bring ALL my concerns before God in prayer. I’m so glad your immediate family is saved. My husband isn’t. And your perspective of choosing Christ before their last breathe is a beautiful visual. And I haven’t thought of one of God’s greatest gifts is our free will. I choose Christ! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts today when I needed them so desperately. My new friend in Jesus…Marques! ❤🙏❤

      4. We don’t have online viewing currently. Prayerfully, that is something that God will bless us with down the road.

Thanks so much for the prayers. I continue to keep you and your husband in my daily prayers, as well.

      5. I mentioned you (not by name because of privacy) in my blog today!  Thank you for your inspiring posts and helping me. Your advice came to mind this morning again.   ❤

      6. HE used you to give me a simple 3 step plan that sank into my mind and soul. HE knows that “simple clear instruction” is what I need. Thank you for being open to Him using you to minister.

  2. Great post! Mentorship is important. Parents need to treat their children to respect law and authority. Where parents have failed, other leaders need to fill the gap. Those who enter positions of authority need to have good role models–in their present position, and in their past, from childhood. Much of the tension between citizens and police officers comes from poor role models in previous experiences. J.

  3. You have discussed this important issue in such a worthy and truthful way. There is no color to the soul no matter the color of the body. Two states of the soul – saved or unsaved. That’s What Matters.
