Share Your Faith Story: Why Jesus Came

I Timothy 1:15-16
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. World refers to all humanity. Save means to deliver or rescue. Christ came to die for the sins of humanity. Of whom I am Chief: Apostle Paul saw the degradation of sin and understood the sinfulness of human beings.

Folks, because of this, he placed himself first among sinners.

Where do we place ourselves today?

verse 16 Believe on Him: Over 186 times in the New Testament the sole condition given for salvation is belief, having faith and trust in Jesus Christ. The gospel is that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose on the third day. All those who place their trust in Jesus for salvation will be saved from the coming judgment. To add any other condition to faith for salvation is to make justification a matter of works.

Romans 11:6
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Grace and works are mutually exclusive. God’s election was established solely on the basis of grace. Read Romans 11:5

Galatians 2:16
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Have you ever wondered, why?
1. Why is the sky blue and not pink?
2. Why do dogs have fur instead of scales?
3. Why do plants need water instead of sweet tea?

Folks, many of those “why” questions are trivial, but here is one that’s not.

Why did Jesus come to earth as a human?
Why did He come to earth, love us to the point of death, and conquer sin and death through His resurrection?

According to I Timothy 1:15, He came to save sinners.

Based on Scripture, you and I know that each of us is a sinner, and therefore, in need of God’s grace and mercy. Jesus had a plan and a purpose for His time on earth, and the plan was to provide salvation for all who would accept it.

As you go about your day, doing whatever, and encountered someone who may be asking “why” questions, would you share your faith story? We all have a story to tell. If we had no story, we would not have a testimony. Would you help someone to understand why Jesus came?

There’s nothing more important that we can do.

Heavenly Father, would You make me aware of someone to share my faith story with today? Please, allow me the privilege of sharing why Jesus came and of the life I have in Him.

If you are reading this and do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would like to extend this invitation to you to receive the gift of salvation today. You can do so by praying and truly believing the prayer below, or by praying to God in your own Words.

I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.
