What Is Spiritual Warfare?

This is a message by my cousin, Edward Jeffries.

Most Christians, church folks don’t know the definition of “Spiritual Warfare.” I believe it is a subject that is not preached and taught in enough churches of today.

From a Christian perspective, spiritual warfare is the cosmic war of good versus evil.

1. Its battles are fought daily between God and Satan.
2. Its battles between the Christian Church and the world system ruled by our spiritual enemy; and within every child of God.
3. Its battles between the Holy Spirit and the lust of the carnal flesh. The clear meanings of good and evil, as defined by God rather than man, are revealed within the verses of the Holy Bible and the life of Jesus Christ.
a. 2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
Adam and Eve experienced the first human “battle” with Satan in the garden, and because of their fall, he has continued to try to destroy mankind ever since. Even though we have been in a cosmic war ever since the beginning of time, God has provided us with what we need to defeat our enemy. This verse is important, because it explains that our weapons of warfare are not the normal ones, rather they have divine power to destroy anything that Satan throws against us.

b. Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places.
God the Father, is always fighting for us, and it is he that blesses continually. He knows that we are waging a war, so he provides us with the spiritual weapons and blessings we need in the heavenly places. He has not left us alone or abandoned us in this spiritual battle.

c. Ephesians 3:10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and power in the heavenly places.
The church is the bride of Christ, and as such the Lord has granted us his manifold wisdom. This discernment has been given to us to help us stand firm against Satan’s wiles. Being a part of the church, I believe will help us wage an effective spiritual war against our greatest enemy.

d. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

God loves us so much, and in this verse He is warning us about our greatest enemy, the devil. He points out that we are indeed in a battle, and so we must clothe ourselves with appropriate armor. If we do, then we will be able to stand against the enemies schemes.

e. Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

I believe this verse of Scripture describes what spiritual warfare is all about. Apostle Paul explains that we are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but we are actually fighting against powers and forces of evil in the heavenly places. Our fight is not necessarily against other human beings, but rather we need to fight Satan and those rulers and authorities of darkness that seek to destroy us.

Brothers and Sisters, God gives us the individual pieces of armor that we need to put on to fight the battle.

f. 1 Timothy 1:18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies made concerning you. that by them you may wage the good warfare.

Just as Paul encouraged Timothy, you and I must be encouraged and stand firm in the spiritual battle that we are facing. Apostle Paul reminded Timothy, just as we are reminded about the encouraging prophecies we have received , God was using to equip him (us) to wage the good warfare.

WE MUST REALIZE THAT THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD.

Accept Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, today. Today is the day of salvation. Now is the accepted time. You may not have tomorrow. Have a Blessed Day.

  2. This is true. Most churches don’t talk about spiritual warfare.. that should actually raise an eyebrow. It just shows they’ve sold out to the very entity they claim to be against. That 501c3 keeps them quiet from speaking some real truth.
The truth is infinite and cannot be stopped!!

  3. Marques, thanks for liking my presentation. Although I am going through the heat right now, I believe God did not take me this far in my walk to take away the light and the palesssion is engraved in my heart: For the greater ause of His kingdom. Despite what I may be facing right now, I WILL continue to encourage others in truth and in love, and go above and beyond to shine the light of Christ in this broken world. I am not going to stand by and contue to allow Satan to use my dark past to discourage me from my assignment as a servant of God’s kingdom. If it means launching 10,000 platform so to shine that light and promote the Good News, so be it! Lord, make me a arrior devoted to Your sacred cause. All praise to Jesus!!
May God bless you with this piece I wrote before quarantine ended. There is so much power in this piece, and I believe this speaks well for so many, including myself, who are being tested by fire.

  5. Hello Marques,
Last night was beyond beautiful. I actually had a dream last night that God will quietly singing songs to me while saying “I love you” and “I am with you through the fire”. I want to share with you a revelation I received about my cuorent period of testing. It’s not just the accusations of my past or the Scriptures. I am under the conviction that deep down, Satan is afraid of what is inside of me: A continually shining light searching for the uncontaminated truth, and a brave young woman who will march until the end. As I prayed and reflected on Proverbs 18:21, I remember hearing deep in my spirit, “Child, I commend you for your faith and your bravery. Through you may but stricken with the sin nature, I admire your perseverance and your determination to go above and beyond to expose Satan’s tactics. Child, though under accusation and tribulation, Satan cannot destroy the light I gave you. Rest as I sing joyously before you!”

    1. Wow! That was a wonderful dream God gave to you. He always knows the perfect way to encourage His children and remind us that He is with us.

Yes, it is true. Satan is always irritated when he encounters believers who possess the Godly boldness to expose his lies; And who will share the love of Jesus Christ with those who are lost. The evil one is especially angry when he encounters a young person such as yourself. Our enemy is working twice as hard to deceive people in your age group, Maia.

Maia, you continue to study and feed upon the Word of God. Keep praying and bringing all of your concerns, your hopes, your aspirations, and any thing else on your mind to God. I am speaking from personal experience; And while we have what many people would call a disability, when we chose to yield our life over to Jesus Christ…He will do mighty things in our life. The power of Jesus Christ, shining through you, will inspire many old and young people to accept salvation.

Maia, Keep making Satan mad, and God glad.

  7. Here is a very useful link that actually breaks down the verse (Proverbs 18:21), and how it has been twisted, historically, through the Word of Faith Movement and other heretical systems. I am unsure if the lady is affiliated with these, however, I believe this presentation should gave me leads to unmask the lies hidden within her citing this verse over the past two months, Satan’s intent behind these citations, and practical applications to the true meaning behind “the tongue” as seen in Proverbs 18:21. She only sees one side of the equation. This is a beautiful analysis that I will include in my presentation.

      1. “Behind the scenes” is a figure of speech. Our favorite TV Shows and movies are the product of things that we don’t see. There’s “behind the scenes” stuff like the process of writing scripts, hiring cast & crew, doing makeup, doing the special effects, etc…

In your particular situation. Your desire is to be treated fairly by your teachers and to have a peaceful senior year. Everything you experience will be the result of things God or Satan have done “behind the scenes to influence people. ”

Here’s one more example from my own life, my first job was taking Tec Support calls at a Call Center. After working in the First Level of Tech Support for a year, I was approached by a Manager, and offered a position with the Second Level of Tech Support, with better work hours and higher pay, which I did accept. Many other people wanted this same job, and I hadn’t requested or even expressed interest in the new position ahead of time…However God had been working “behind the scenes” on my behalf. The Lord had placed in the right people’s heart to take notice of my integrity, work ethic, and dependability.

      2. Thank you for breaking it down. I feel like the fact that the woman planned to leave me senior year may have been a “behind the scenes” thing. You see, I JUST released a comprehensive investigation and meditated on Proverbs 18:21 up until my final exams. Now because she (and quite frankly, Satan) has been exposed for having the audacity to use the Scriptures to subtly and cleverly bring up my past and accuse me to my face with all sorts of questions and objections, it is no wonder she planned to leave if her schedule got hectic next year. It is certainly not a coincidence that this happened LITERALLY the day after I published the presentation. It’s OK now, because I am now on summer break.
I am going to an awards ceremony for my choir at 6:00 tonight. It’s an annual banquet that happens at the end of the year in the school’s choral department.
