Joy

You and I should have joy. The joy of Jesus, is what the devil is truly out to steal from the “born again” believer.

As we look at Matthew 2, we see that after Jesus’ birth, the wise men pay Herod a visit as they are searching for the newborn King. Herod hears about this new King, and he gets upset and gathers together the chief priests and scribes to find out where this baby will be born at, and they inform Herod that Bethlehem is the prophesied location.

Matthew 2:7-10
7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

There is a joy and a peace that comes from knowing Jesus as our Savior, because what really causes us sadness: sin, death, guilt, shame; And Jesus is the answer to all of these things.

I am determined to go into 2021, recognizing that if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed. Jesus came so that we can have this joy.

• What makes us sad? Sin. Well, Jesus has given us power over sin.
• What makes us sad? The fear of death. Jesus has freed us from the fear of death.
• What makes us sad? Shame. The Blood of Jesus has washed us, and made us blameless.

This joy is all about knowing that we are not separated from God, That God loves each of us, That God’s plan for us is so sure that He sent His only begotten Son to redeem us.

Matthew 2:9 says that the star came and stood over Jesus, because the Lord doesn’t want us to be confused. God wanted those wise men to understand that whatever wisdom they think they have, the real joy is in Jesus; And He wants us to understand this same thing today.

Matthew 2:11
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.

They were able to present, because they recognized that “I have found Him that my soul loves.” When we start focusing again on who Christ is. That no matter what is going on in our life, that it is Jesus who loves us beyond measure; And He has all of the answers that we pose. All of us may face some unique situations, but Jesus is still the answer.

Matthew 2:12
And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

I remember hearing a preacher deliver a sermon, entitled “Go Home Another Way.”

I want to let you know that there is still a star above Jesus, that says “This is where your joy is.” Anytime you let your mind get on things that are way out there, your joy will be diminished. You may have some happy moments, however REAL joy can only be found in Jesus.

If you have been reading this post and you are not saved, If you’ve been doing things your own way, I am inviting you to go another way. Don’t come in contact with Jesus, and then go home the same way you came. Go home with the Joy of Jesus.

You won’t have to worry about sin, shame, guilt, fear, or death; Because it is all about Jesus. Draw close to Jesus, Draw close to the Word of God, Draw close to the people that God has placed in your life; And even when you face life’s battles, stick with the Joy of Jesus, because the world didn’t give it and the world can’t take it away.

If you are reading this and do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would like to extend this invitation to you to receive the gift of salvation today. You can do so by praying and truly believing the prayer below, or by praying to God in your own Words.

PRAYER:
God,
I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.
When we accept salvation, God saves us immediately, and makes us fit for entrance into Heaven, however some changes God will empower you to make easily, while making other changes will be a process that may take months or even years to make. Regardless of your situation, I assure you that the Lord loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and He will be with you every step of the way. Pray, study God’s Word and ask Him to give you revelation of what you are reading. I also pray that the Lord will direct you to a true Bible teaching, Jesus loving church, where you can have the support of other believers.
