What Will You Do with The Gospel?

This post was inspired by a discussion I had a few months ago with another Blogger, about false conversions.

Matthew 13:3-8
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
8 But others fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

The Lord Jesus Christ used the parable above to explain to His listeners that every person would not receive the Gospel, for a variety of reasons; And this is something that you and I must be reminded of, as we examine our hearts to see where we stand with God, and then for those of us who are saved; we must keep in mind that God only requires that we share the Gospel in a loving manner, but it is the Holy Spirit that works within a person to convict them of their sin. When the Holy Spirit speaks to a person’s heart, they have the free will to either reject or embrace the truth.

So what will you, the reader, do with the Gospel?

Matthew 13:19
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

This is where many professing Atheists find themselves. All their talk about a lack of evidence of God’s existence and/or claims of God’s character being unjust…AARE JUST A COVERUP that the Atheist uses to either mask a painful event(s) from their past(Ex. Manipulation by a false believer, lack of a good relationship with an earthly father, a presumed unanswered prayer, etc…) or the pleasure they feel in committing sin. Because of the deep pain or pleasure they feel, the Atheist will have a hardened heart when they hear the Gospel. The Atheist runs away from the God, who loves them; And they run right into the clutches of the evil one. Satan lies and manipulates Atheists into saying blasphemous things against God and His believers. And then under the influence of the devil, the Atheist will lead astray unbelievers who are vulnerable to deception.

Matthew 13:20-21
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Maybe you are someone, or know someone who believes that the concept of a loving God and going to Heaven sounds great, but deep down on the inside, the person really hasn’t allowed God to have first place in their heart, and so its only a matter of time before their flesh, Satan’s temptations, and the cares of this world draw them away from even desiring to want to live a holy life. For example, an acquaintance of mine shared a situation that occurred at their church, in which there was a a young man who’d grown up in the church, sang in the choir, and even made it known that he desired to become a minister. Well, it was revealed that the young man was gay. The pastor showed the young man, scriptures in the Bible that demonstrates that homosexuality is a sin; And the pastor was willing to minister to the young man and help him get delivered from that lifestyle, however the young man was unwilling to accept deliverance, got angry that the pastor was unwilling to condone his lifestyle, and eventually chose to walk away from the church and acknowledgement of God.

Matthew 13:22
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Sadly, we’ve all seen it so many times. Preachers will have a ministry that reaches people around the world, and then they get caught up in the pleasures of fame and fortune. Their messages are loaded with words of prosperity, while they neglect to warn the people of the pitfalls of continuing to live in sin, because these leaders are fearful of losing their popularity with the people. We also see this in many music artists, who start their career in the church, but then the allure of making bigger bucks draws them into singing secular music.

The above three responses to the preached Gospel, are all a clear indication of people not desiring to allow God to have top priority in their life…BUT the response God is looking for from His creations, The response that leads to the true fulfillment of peace, joy, a purposeful life; And signifies a true conversion is…

Matthew 13:23
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The Word of God lets us all know that we are sinners destined for a burning lake of fire and brimstone, because of our wicked works. But the Good News of the Gospel is that God loves each and every one of us so much that He Sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us. Jesus bore the full weight of your sins and mine upon that cross. The Lord first loved us, and He wants us to be a part of His family.

Satan is the Father of Lies, and only seeks to corrupt us, in his efforts to spite God. The devil only wants extra companionship to share in his future eternal misery. The ways of our world system are filled with greed and pride.

God loves us, and when we read of His loving nature and compassion for us, then open our hearts to Him, He fills us with peace and joy. The best decision we can ever make is to receive salvation, and totally fall in love with the Lord. We get a mindset where we only want to do the things that will honor our Heavenly Father. When good things start happening in our life, and other people ask us how we did it, we don’t exalt ourselves but instead we give all the glory to God. We tell other people that what God has done for us, He will do the same things for other people if they will sincerely commit their heart and life to Him.

As far as a testimony of Salvation goes: Only God knows the intent of a person’s heart when they initially seek salvation. We must wait to see what fruit the person bares, and even then all of us have to keep in mind that even as believers we will still sin. As believers, when we do come to the realization that we’ve done something that displeases God, we ask His forgiveness and ask Him to help us to spiritually grow so that we don’t keep falling prey to that same sinful deed in the future.

Per Galatians 6:1-2, when we do see our brothers and sisters going down the wrong road, we must go to them in love, to help them get back on track. Likewise, we have to be able to be able to receive loving admonishment from our Christian brothers and sisters when they see us going down the wrong road in our behavior or even our doctrine.

To paraphrase what Paul states in Romans 7, this sin nature is a real nuisance for the believer, and we won’t be perfect until we receive our glorified bodies(I Corinthians 15:42-54).

As for God dealing with “real” Christians vs “fake” Christians, I refer to Jesus’ Wheat and Tares parable from Matthew 13. There will come a day when Jesus and His angels will separate the real(Wheat) from the fakers(Tares)

If you are saved, continue to Hold to God’s unchanging hand…And allow no one to shake your faith.

If you are reading this and do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would like to extend this invitation to you to receive the gift of salvation. Now is the accepted time. Tomorrow is not promised for any of us. You can do so by praying and truly believing the prayer below, or by praying to God in your own Words.

I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.
