Each of us were made on purpose and for a purpose. The thought of God is the reason why we are here; And it is important that we understand that God knew what He wanted in us. He has built things in us. Our height, our weight, our race, our complexion, any disability we may have; all of these things play a role in our purpose for being here. God knew exactly what He was doing when He uniquely created each of us.
There are people out there with facial abnormalities, and there are people out there with physical challenges that are so difficult, but I believe it works into the purpose of God. I believe that if we rest in the truth of what scripture says, that we can process better.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
We were created: to please God, to worship God, to become Christlike, and to help in the plan of God to reach this lost world God is the God of love, and there are so many hurting people. There are so many people who are struggling to find their way, so you and I have a part to play in that.
Some people battle with weight, while others may not have gained a pound in years, but I believe that the ones who are battling are still continuing to work on it. I’ve learned that having this consistent struggle, or having other struggles, has made me more compassionate as a person. I’ve seen people, who couldn’t gain a pound if they wanted to, and something about that gives them the ability to minister to certain kinds of people. Whatever it is, God works it for us to encourage others and to bring Him glory.
Discovering your God ordained purpose begins with loving God, because some difficult things are going to come in our life. Life has trouble built into it, and it can be challenging, but we overcome by our faith.
I John 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Faith is what we believe, and how we behave. Faith is this Confidence that you and I have in God and the truth of His Word; And the way that this confidence influences our decisions.
The ABC’s Of Faith:
• Accept God’s Word, and ask for what we need.
• Believe that His Biblical promises are fact, even without us not having any physical evidence.
• Confess God’s Word. Everyday, whenever that challenge attacks us, and we start feeling frustrated, we need to have a two or three line confession that says something like: “Lord, Your Word says I will be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving I make my requests known unto You. And the peace of God that passeth all understanding keeps my heart and mind.”
• Demonstrate by being mindful that our are actions align with God’s Word.
• live in Expectation
• We believe for focus or strength to endure.
• Give God the praise until the end
Mark 9 has the account of a father whose son was grievously vexed by demonic forces. Some people argue as to whether the boy was dealing with demons or whether it was epilepsy. The bottom line is that something was causing the boy challenges, and was throwing him into fire and into water. So the father says to Jesus, “Lord, if you can do anything, please help my son.” And Jesus responds with something that is so important, by saying, “Wait, it’s not if I can do anything. If you can believe. All things are possible to him that believeth.” So that means that when you and I have painful situations, and things don’t go the way we thought they should, then we have to be careful not to let that disappointment bleed over or cross contaminate our faith in other areas.
If I let something that didn’t go the way I thought it should go, cause me to believe that God doesn’t want to do anything for me, or that God can’t do anything supernaturally for me; Then what I am doing is shutting down my ability to receive, because Jesus said that all things are possible if I believe. So I’m closing off possibilities because I didn’t deal with pain.
Nothing in life will make sense if we don’t start with God. Because I love Jesus, and I know that if it had not been for Him, I’d probably be gone….And burning in Hell. But Christ’s love appeared to me. One day, my grandmother and uncle told me about Jesus and His great love for me; And I pledged my love to Him. Now my life says, “Lord, above everything I love You, because You first loved me. So when something goes on in my life, I will be diligent to not let that affect the love that I have for You, God.”
If we don’t start with that, then our faith is not going to work, because faith works by love. If we don’t start with “Lord, I love You, I know that You first loved me enough to die on the cross for my sins.” If we don’t start there, then we will allow the negative things that happen to eat away at our love and affection for God; And pretty soon, we won’t want to be in church, our prayer life will start becoming slack.
We can’t afford to let anything start eating away at our ability to believe God. I still believe that living for Jesus is the right way. I still believe that God is able to make me abound with blessing. I still believe that God keeps me in health. When I face challenges, I will go to God and say, “Lord, I don’t understand this? Please give me understanding and strength.” And He may respond that I’ve engaged in some bad practices and opened the door to some consequences, or He may not say anything. When He doesn’t say anything, we can put the request on our spiritual shelf, and trust God in the waiting, because our believing is too important. Anything is possible to him that believes.
We must also stay in an atmosphere of faith. This means, that even in the midst of us going through our challenges, we have to continue to attend church and continue to stay in prayer. We need the accountability from others to help us stay the course. We are soldiers in the army of the Lord, and we don’t want to miss Role Call.
Believing is a choice. We can say, “God, I trust You. I believe that You are Creator. Lord, I know You love me, so I choose to believe today..That this is the day that You have made, and You’ve made it with me in mind. I will rejoice and be glad. I choose to believe that this physical battle that I am in is not a reflection that You’ve changed Your mind about me, but rather life has trouble built into it. So let me access, God, that power that is yet in Your Word. Holy Spirit, breathe on me, that I may live!”
Now, you might be saying that sometimes things happen that make it hard to believe. And that is true. I personally, know a Christian couple whose faith was shaken after the loss of a newborn baby. Sometimes we are confronted by challenges that cause us to say the same thing the father, in Mark 9, said to Jesus. “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” The man was saying I don’t want to not believe, but I’m struggling. The man didn’t back away from God, he went straight to the Lord for help. Our believing is the way that we are going to gain victory.
In John 20:29, Jesus says to Thomas, “because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
We must make the determination that, “I don’t need to see it to believe it, if God said it.” If we can begin to say to God, “I know You put Your Word even above Your name, so I accept that as fact, that for which I have no sense realm evidence, but I know, down in my heart, that Your Word is true.” When we pray, we may not see the change as quickly as we’d like, but deep within our heart the Holy Spirit will let us know that everything is going to be alright.
II Corinthians 4:18
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
All of the challenges, all of the obstacles we face in this world are only temporary. What can we look at that is eternal? God’s Word is going to abide forever. Look into the Word of God, and build up your capacity to believe.
If you are reading this and do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would like to extend this invitation to you to receive the gift of salvation today. You can do so by praying and truly believing the prayer below, or by praying to God in your own Words.
I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.
When we accept salvation, God saves us immediately, and makes us fit for entrance into Heaven, however some changes God will empower you to make easily, while making other changes will be a process that may take months or even years to make. Regardless of your situation, I assure you that the Lord loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and He will be with you every step of the way. Pray, study God’s Word and ask Him to give you revelation of what you are reading. I also pray that the Lord will direct you to a true Bible teaching, Jesus loving church, where you can have the support of other believers.
