Trust, Betrayal, Mercy

Psalms 13:5
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

Trust- firm belief in the reliability, trust, ability, or strength of someone or something.

Psalms 20:7
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 31:14
But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.

Betrayal is the breaking or violation of a presumptive contract, trust or confidence that produces moral and psychological conflict within a relationship among individuals, between organizations or between individuals and organizations.

Matthew 7:12
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

The phrase the Law and the Prophets echoes Matthew 5:17. This so called ” Golden Rule” is the practical application of Leviticus 19:18: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

God revealed (Rom 3:22-23) to people how they should live, but no one can live up to God’s perfect way.

All have sinned: No one can live up to what God created us to be; we all fall short of His glory. You and I cannot save ourselves because as sinners we can never meet God’s requirements. Our only hope is faith in Jesus Christ.

Mercy-compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.

II Samuel 24:14
And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the Lord; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

Psalms 86:5
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

Trust seems simple, but it often grows from our experience. For many of us, trust is not easy, because it relates not just to our faith in God but is influenced by our fellow brothers and sisters.

1. God will not fail us, but others often do.
2. Trust from others is a treasure.
3. Trust is something you and I never want to lose.

In our relationships, being trustworthy is based on truthful living. You and I are accountable for modeling both truth and mercy where trust has been lost. You and I often say and do the wrong things; therefore, mercy always has to be part of a relationship. Once you and I have violated the trust someone has in us, it is hard to regain it.

Betrayal hurts, especially from someone we love, trust, and or call a friend.

1. How do we deal with it?
2. The way God has dealt with us.

Reestablishing trust is possible, but mercy is necessary. David felt God had turned His face away from him until he cried out

Psalms 30:2
O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

David came to realize the importance of God’s forgiveness and faithful love. Realizing in his heart that God had forgiven him, restored his (David’s) trust in God’s loving deliverance and gave him the confidence to share that mercy with others.

Are you sharing mercy. Trust and Mercy go together.

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would like to extend this invitation to you to receive the gift of salvation today. You can do so by praying and truly believing the prayer below, or by praying to God in your own Words.

PRAYER:
God,
I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.

When we accept salvation, God saves us immediately, and makes us fit for entrance into Heaven, however some changes God will empower you to make easily, while making other changes will be a process that may take months or even years to make. Regardless of your situation, I assure you that the Lord loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and He will be with you every step of the way. Pray, study God’s Word and ask Him to give you revelation of what you are reading. I also pray that the Lord will direct you to a true Bible teaching, Jesus loving church, where you can have the support of other believers.
