Our Christmas Announcement: Part 1

Christmas is the largest card- sending occasion in the United States, with approximately 1.9 billion cards sent to friends and loved ones every year not counting the cards that are hand carried. You and I get beautiful Christmas Cards and it may not announce the real meaning of Christmas.

The best Christmas announcement is the one that reminds us all of that first announcement on the night Christ was born.

The original Christmas Announcement was sent by “God” and delivered by His Angel. The reading, I want You and I to be challenged and changed by God’s Word in understanding that we are to do as the Angel did, by being the messenger of the good news.

We should be doing the same three (3) things the Angel did on the night that Christ was born.
The Angel gave an announcement that did three (3) things for the Shepherd that night.

1. Calmed Fear.
2. Created Hope.
3. Called others to Worship.

Let us pay attention to the original Announcement the Angel brought from Heaven.

Luke 2:8-15
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

1. Calming Fear: verse 10 Fear not

The angel’s announcement included a desire to calm the fear of those who were the receivers of God’s message. The angel said, “Fear not.”

Is there a need for calming fear in people’s lives today?
I would say yes there is. You and I live in a society where people crave instant gratification and fear many things.

Some fear for personal safety (how many of you lock your doors at night).

We would be amazed at the number of people who sleep each night with a weapon of defense (a bat, knife, or even a gun) within their immediate reach. People “FEAR” personal safety. People “FEAR” for their provisional security. How many people are fearful that their basic needs of life might go unmet.

1. Will I be cold or warm?
2. Will I go hungry or be fed?
3. Will I be able to make ends meet?

People fear over many things, the concern that many never fear should be the greatest concern of all.

Friends, I believe the greatest concern of all people on earth should be the need of “Promised Salvation.”

EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THE ASSURANCE OF KNOWING THAT NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS LIFE, WE, YOU AND I NEED NOT “FEAR” THE NEXT LIFE.

So How do You and I calm that assurance?

Only by placing our trust in Jesus Christ who has made a way for everyone when their way on earth is done.

If you are reading this and do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would like to extend this invitation to you to receive the gift of salvation today. You can do so by praying and truly believing the prayer below, or by praying to God in your own Words.

PRAYER:
God,
I confess that I have sinned against You, and I know that there is nothing I can do by my own efforts to change my condition. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins; And that He rose from the grave on the Third Day to grant me eternal life. I know You love me, God, and I love You. I place my faith and trust only in You to conform my heart to Your will; And to order my steps everyday, from this day forward. Thank You , Lord, for saving me.

When we accept salvation, God saves us immediately, and makes us fit for entrance into Heaven, however some changes God will empower you to make easily, while making other changes will be a process that may take months or even years to make. Regardless of your situation, I assure you that the Lord loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and He will be with you every step of the way. Pray, study God’s Word and ask Him to give you revelation of what you are reading. I also pray that the Lord will direct you to a true Bible teaching, Jesus loving church, where you can have the support of other believers.
