Can America Return To God?

For over 200 plus years, we as Americans have celebrated our independence, our own right to do as we please in governing our lives. What a wonderful country we live in – despite all its faults (racism, bigotry, and prejudices) and failures. What wonderful freedoms are offered to us.

One of those freedoms today is FREEDOM OF RELIGION. You and I can believe or worship anybody or anything we want with no one to tell us differently. God gives us freedom to choose.

Many Christians around the world die for that right each and every year. However, in America- a country established for that very right, many will not give GOD the TIME of day, much less their lives.

What has happened that made millions now celebrate the “FREEDOM FROM RELIGION” instead of the FREEDOM OF RELIGION?

Many have tried and succeeded in getting God kicked out of schools, sporting events, public places and work places.

It is not the god of the Hindu, Muslims, it’s not the philosophy of reincarnation of the New Age, It’s not homosexuality or condom distribution they want out. It is Jehovah God and Jesus Christ. “Spiritualism” has taken the place of Christianity. Christianity, the founding guide for America is under attack.

Spiritualism is a system of belief or religious produce based on supposed communication with the spirit of the dead, especially through mediums.

To a great extent our society has gotten what it wanted. A society without God. But what good has it done?

Today we must carry on a new struggle for God we love. We must push hard against an age that is pushing hard against us.

How can we turn this nation back to God? Can it even be done? Yes We can make a difference.

II Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I. IF MY PEOPLE WHICH ARE CALLED BY MY NAME
a. There can be no “finger-pointing”/”passing the responsibility” when returning to God. He’s talking to each one of us. It is up to us to acknowledge our slackness, and step into the calling that God has for us to do in sharing the Gospel.
b. Judgment always begins at the House of God.

II. WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE.
a. It is good to be a proud American as long as we can bow to God.
b. Prayer is never obsolete, outdated or too late.

III. AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS
a. We are notorious for repenting but not turning. Repentance means to turn.
b. Do we love evil too much to turn from it?

IV. THEN I (GOD) WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN
a. God is waiting to hear from us.
b. God longs for America to return to him.

V. AND WILL FORGIVE THEIR SIN AND HEAL THEIR LAND
a. Forgiveness awaits all who will turn.
b. Healing awaits all who turn

  1. I sympathize with your heart in this matter brother. Because I too would love it if America would embrace the Lord Jesus Christ and Jehovah Father.

But I can’t help but think about the prophecy that men will wax worse in the latter times, being more and more evil, and that’s kinda how our country (and the we world) appears to me. So I don’t identify with America anymore as I once did. (I’m not denying my citizenship or anything like that), I’m just saying that my only identity that I have any trust in is my identity in the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

Keep shining the light that God has given to you my friend, and thank you for caring enough to reach out to the world.

    1. I definitely share your sentiments, Lee. This world is definitely going to get worse and worse, and only Jesus Christ Himself will be able to set things right.

We will continue to share teh Gospel with others, and pray that as people as possible will yield to the call of Jesus, as He knocks on the door of their heart.

Have a blessed day and week, brother

  2. “a. There can be no “finger-pointing” when returning to God. He’s talking to us.”

Hey Marques, can you clarify that statement. In Scripture, it commands us to test the spirits (those bringing a message) and in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, to rebuke, exhort, etc.

    1. Hi, brother. I added a little bit to that area of the post.

Yes, what you stated is correct.

What I am getting at is the fact that many people, who profess to follow Christ, have gotten slack in serving God. They point their fingers to what sinners are doing or even the shortcomings of other believers, but they themselves are not: sharing the Gospel, visiting the sick, helping those who are less fortunate, etc…

It is a call for all of us to examine ourselves, with the help of the Holy Spirit, and ensure that we are “stepping up to the plate” to do all that God has called us to do. We are the salt of the earth.
