The Parents’ Spiritual State

Is the role of a Father important in our society today?

In the following verses of Scripture, John, like a loving father, addresses followers of God as “LITTLE CHILDREN,” (v.12) We expect children to grow physically. Christians should grow in the Lord, becoming strong in their faith and ultimately spiritually steadfast fathers and mothers.

Fathers are important in society, and are of supreme importance to children and the household in which they grow up. From the beginning of time, God has shown the “significance,” of a loving Father and MOTHER giving wise guidance to their children.

Fathers following God and His way model well and impart the knowledge children need to become strong believers in Christ. If the Word of God abides in them, they will indeed overcome the Enemy.

John 15:7
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Proverbs 19:20 Wise Guidance of the mother:
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

I John 2:12-14
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

These verses contain two (2) sets of three (3) items which describe you and I John’s readers as LITTLE CHILDREN,

FATHERS, and YOUNG MEN. These three classifications are not physical age groups or spiritual stages. Each group is a reference to all of us.
a. As little children, we know our sins are forgiven
b. As fathers, we not only have a relationship with God, but we also have knowledge of God that comes from obedience to His commandments.
c. As young men, we are strong.

A FATHER’S PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, help me to honor You in the role You have given me. Keep me strong in my faith in You.
