Redirecting Glory: Glory to God Not To Ourselves

Psalm 24:10
Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

Friends, the repetition in this verse is for effect and emphasis. This is praise for the Lord.

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

It is easy for us to look on our accomplishments and swell with gratification.
1. That promotion? yeah, I did that.
2. Leading a Bible study and fellowship meal? That’s me, Glory to God though.

Giving glory to God is more than a catchy phrase tacked to the end of our SECRET PRIDE. In truth, God doesn’t need us to give Him glory. It’s already His. After all, God “is the King of glory.”

We worship the Lord by living well and doing our work as unto Him.
He is EXALTED when we accomplish feats honorably.
We ESTEEM Him when we take our BLESSINGS and use them as good STEWARDS.
Glory is His when we WALK in HUMILITY, whether we say a quick “glory to God,” or not.

Giving God the glory doesn’t require victories. He is already victorious.
He desires our ACKNOWLEDGMENT and HUMBLE service. In Christ,
we are released from the burden of achievement, fame, and earning. We are free to simply honor the King with what is already His.

Heavenly Father, enable me to be a good steward of gifts you have given me. Help me to remember that any glory I have is Yours.
