The Last Don’t lose

Mark 10:31
But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

Our culture of today is one of celebrity. Movie stars, singers, professional athletes, mega churches with itchy ears preaching. Some jobs, relationships and authors all garner our applause. The rich and famous hold much influence in our society. To some of us, fame equates importance.

Folks, Jesus turns our culture’s ethic upside down with a paradox. It is not fame that translates to importance in God’s kingdom. More often than not, “GREATNESS.” in the kingdom of God is seen in the obscure. In other words, it is not discovered or known about.

1. It’s the widow who sacrificially gives to the mission offering.
Mark 12:44
For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

2.It is the older woman who mentors a younger woman.
Titus 2:3-5
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

3. It’s the pastor who serves his people.
Jeremiah 3:15
15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

4. It’s the missionary who serves an African village.
Matthew 28:19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

“GREATNESS” in the kingdom is not about how polished you are on the
outside, but how committed to God you are on the inside. It’s ultimately a matter of the heart that might mean you and I are viewed as last in the eyes of the world.

The first step towards truly becoming a winner in life is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. There is no better time than right now to ask Him to be the Lord of your life.
