I Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I am writing this to encourage you, the reader, that whatever you may be going through, even if you feel that your world has been turned upside down, I want you to know that you have the victory through Christ Jesus.
BUT – A conjunction meaning yet, nevertheless, none the less, however, Inspight of. In this verse it is used to indicate the impossibilities of anything, other than, what God allows, happening to you.
Thanks be to God: We should show gratitude, and tell the Lord “Thank You”
which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ: This lets us know that tough times will come. We will have to go through some things.
Sometimes you may feel that its one thing after another.
The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
This is something that is hard for many people, both saved and unsaved alike, and that is holding our peace and waiting on the Lord. We try to fix things by ourselves and often time only end up making things worse.
God always has a master plan at work. All that is required of us is to line up with His Word.
When there is a fight, as I previously stated the hardest thing is to remain still. When we feel threatened, one of the first things we want to do is throw our hands up and defend ourselves. We want to respond to the threat. We want to use self-defense, however the battle has already been fought, and the victory has already been won by the Lord, we just need to step out of the way.
Our instincts put us in a defensive position, and all of our senses go red.
In the Bible, when the Hebrews were preparing to break free from the Egyptians, what did God tell them? To paraphrase it, He told them that He would take care of the hard stuff. He would fight the battle for them.
When we take matters into our own hands, we end up getting our feelings hurt and potentially hurting other people unnecessarily.
Whatever fight is going on in your life, step back and let God take it. LET HIM FIGHT FOR YOU.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The Word still means to “let go”. In other words, we need to come to a place where we are willing to submit ourselves and the things that we are dealing with, into the all victorious hands of God.
But sometimes we get distracted, We get overwhelmed. Sometimes we just get mad, and want to handle things ourselves. We even go far enough that we start seeking revenge.
Life is three things:
A lot of times it is just life, because God has spoken to us about certain things that we shouldn’t say, things we shouldn’t wear, things we shouldn’t do, and places we shouldn’t go. Then there are times, where God will allow things to happen to serve as a teaching lesson for us.
We as believers have to continue to seek God through prayer and by studying His written Word. God is telling us to go this way, and we go in the opposite direction. When this happens, our life begins to fall out of alignment. A lot of bad things will start happening once we get out of alignment with God’s directions.
What gets us back into alignment is when we come to ourselves, or when God touches our heart(spirit) and we heed His guidance to turn away from the wrong path, and get back on the right path again.
God has already given us the victory. We just need to follow His Word, one step at a time. If we obey God’s Word, He will bless us.
