Wake Up, Church: Jesus Is Coming

The Bible says Christ will come like a thief in the night, when you least expect him. It will happen in the twinkling of an eye, with the sound of a trumpet. We must be ready at all times.”
Are You Ready?

The cry “Jesus is coming!” is seldom heard in God’s house today. Very few Christians live with a sense of expectancy, looking and yearning for Jesus’ return.

The New Testament gives many warnings that mockers will appear in the last days, ridiculing the doctrine of Christ’s coming.

Peter writes:

2 Peter 3:3-4 Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lust, (4) and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of “creation.”

Brothers and Sisters, this mocking can be heard today:
1. What does anyone fear?
2. All things continue just as they always have. There is no reason to fear Judgment Day, it isn’t coming.

After the terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001, people flocked to churches and prayed with a fervor that hasn’t been seen in recent times. Just six (6) months later, fewer people were attending church than before 9/11 attacks. Just as Peter prophesied, the mockers have arrived.

Brothers and Sisters, Satan has whispered a lie into the ears of many believers. That lie is, “Christ has delayed His coming.” I believe Christ has actually speeded up His return. This is addressed in Matthew 24 in his parable about being ready for His return.

Matthew 24: 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!”

The bride of Christ consists of a world wide body of believers who are under the lordship of Jesus. These are born-again, blood-cleansed believers.

This verse shows us the last cry, or prayer, of the Holy Spirit, when he knows his work on earth is about to be completed: “Come, Lord Jesus. This cry of the Spirit is not directed to men but to Christ. It means in essence, “Lord, hasten your coming.”

Brothers and Sisters, all who make up the body of Christ know this cry of the Spirit. We live and walk in the Spirit, with our souls seated in heavenly places, and our bodies are His temple.

The Spirit himself prays with us “Come, hasten, Lord Jesus.” This should become our heart cry also.

In Revelation 22:7 Jesus announces,
“Behold, I am coming quickly; blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.

Revelation 22:12 And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.

Brothers and Sisters, if we believe the world is racing toward unrestrained chaos, and that Christ is coming, then this must be our cry to OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS who are unprepared. Our prayer must be, “COME, LORD, BUT FIRST, GIVE MY UNPREPARED LOVED ONES EARS TO HEAR. SAVE THEM, JESUS.

Have you made this your cry for your love ones? May they no longer believe mockers who say. “All things are continuing in good order. Enjoy yourself, indulge, do whatever makes you happy.” May all such blindness be removed! Terrorists have blown up New York’s twin towers. Rogue nations with nuclear bombs are preparing to hold the world hostage. New diseases never before known to humankind, such as SARS and ebola, can destroy bodies within a week. Some 700,000 innocent Rwandans died at the hands of their own countrymen. The list goes on and on.

All things continue as they have? What willful ignorance? The truth is that God is shaking all that can be shaken. What is still to come is too dreadful to think about.

Accept Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, today. Today is the day of salvation. Now is the accepted time. You may not have tomorrow. Have a Blessed Day.

  1. No, no, no. You mustn’t say stuff like this. Don’t be negative. You must talk about the good things in life. Talk about prosperity and grace so that people’s ears can be tickled as they sit warming the pews that are only occupied by those have weekly appointments with God.
Also lets have more entertainment to keep them in the church. The truth about hell and the rapture is going to chase them away. Keep up with the latest trends that have the ‘christian’ label on it and play the latest songs.

Nah. Heck. Just tell them the TRUTH!
    Awesome blog. Preach it sister!

    1. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Yep, sadly many people nowadays would rather feast on “cottoncandy” feel good sermons, rather than hear about the true consequences of sin and that we must conduct ourselves in a manner so that our hearts will be right, should Jesus return at any moment.

BTW, I am a man. The writer of this particular post, and several others, is my cousin Edward. I will begin sharing posts from a female friend of mine, named Chikera, in a few weeks, though.
