Who’s The Boss?

Who is guiding your life? Who is commanding your steps?

Many people may believe they are running their own life. That they are their own boss, and do not have to answer to anyone. They believe that nobody is going to tell them what to do, However, I must advise you that if you are a person who believes the previous statements, then you are being deceived.

While it is a fact that every human being has been given the power of free will, and a conscience to inform our reasoning between right and wrong; Ultimately, one of two individuals is going to be the true boss over us.

I must be completely honest with you, by informing you that if you are reading this, and have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, the hard truth is that Satan is going to insert himself into your life and be your boss. You and I inherited sin from Adam when he and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. As human beings, we are sneaky, prideful, lustful, and can be very vengeful when pushed.

Satan preys upon our sin nature, and promises men and women many instant riches. He tells people if it feels good, do it. He offers fame, fortune, easy access to sexual gratification, etc… He will appeal to our five senses of: sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste. If somebody wrongs us, the evil one will show us how to seek our revenge. I will be clear that Satan cannot make us do anything, but his influence is strong enough that no person can resist the devil’s words, by human strength and intellect alone. The devil will figure out what a person desires, and lay it before a person. His ultimate endgame is to deceive mankind into rejecting God’s call, and thereby following Satan to the lake of fire and brimstone for all of eternity. It is the evil one who instructs terrorists to commit horrible acts, influences people to use guns and bombs to attack schools and other public places, causes people to sexually harass others, leads people down the road of committing horrible acts such as molestation and rape, and it is Satan who stirs the flames of racial tension.

God is the creator of this entire universe, and everything we see around us speaks to the truth of an intelligent Creator. When a person responds to the preaching/witnessing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by accepting Jesus into their heart, God becomes that person’s boss. God’s Holy Spirit comes into that person’s life, and begins to transform that person’s heart. As that person studies God’s Word, the Lord gives them understanding of what is being read and how they can apply it to their daily life and live victoriously. God instructs that person on ways that they can be a force for Good in their family, workplace, and community. While we all may be different, God teaches us to respect and love others, because we are all created by Him.

When we communicate with God and petition Him for various requests, we recognize that He will either say: No, to things that He knows will harm us or that aren’t in His plan for our life, Wait, to things that we aren’t quite ready to receive yet, or Yes, to things that we are ready to receive.

A true believer does not follow God out of fright of Him or because they consider Him a “cosmic sugardaddy”, But instead a true Christian recognizes that in spite of all of the bad things we’ve done, God loved us enough to send His only Son to redeem us and grant us eternal life. Serving God by helping other people, gives the believer joy, along with a feeling of significance. We know that our boss is always available to listen to our concerns, comfort our spirit, and be our guiding light in this ever darkening world.

Who is your boss? Is it Satan? OR Is it God?

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Savior, I want to let you know that God wants you to be a part of His team. Tell the devil that you are done with his manipulation. Run to God’s outstretched arms. Today is the day of salvation. While there is breath in your body, now is the accepted time. You can ask God to be your boss by praying in your own words or by praying and believing the prayer below:

I’m ready to turn away from my sinful lifestyle. I’m asking for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, That He died for my sins, and that He rose again so that I can have eternal life. God, I want Your Holy Spirit to come into my heart, and I want You to be my Lord, Savior, and boss from this day forward. Lord, I thank You for saving me!

If you prayed this prayer or a similar prayer in your own words, and meant it from your heart, then you are now a part of God’s family. Your name has been written in the Book of Life, and therefore when your mortal life ends you will live forever with Jesus Christ.

Begin studying God’s Word. A great place to start is to read the Gospel of John, then Matthew, then Romans, then Acts. This will give you a foundation of the teachings of Jesus and how He desires that we successfully navigate this mortal life.

I will encourage you to also find a good church home, where the true Word of God is being preached. Always remember that your salvation is not based on politicking with church leaders, how well you dress, how well you sing, how much money you put in the offering pan, etc… Your salvation is built upon your acceptance of Jesus as your personal Savior, and your commitment to growing to know Him more and more each day, through prayer, studying the Bible, and interacting with other “born again” Christians, who sincerely encourage you to grow spiritually.

God Bless You, and if we don’t meet in this mortal life, I pray we will meet in heaven.
