Seek Him, Trust Him

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Regardless of how “well put together” we try to make ourselves seem to other people, the honest truth is that ALL(you and myself) of us are faced with obstacles in life. Whether it be: health issues with our self or a loved one, issues in our marriage, issues with our kids, stress at work, or even feelings of despair regarding our past indiscretions. So the question is; Who or what do we turn to when these tough times come?

Many of us turn to sex, drugs, alcohol, and food for comfort. While some other people may attempt to make other people feel bad, in order to attempt to make themselves feel powerful again. Yes, some of the things I’ve mentioned may provide a temporary sense of relief, but they will eventually lead to more severe issues.

So where can we find lasting comfort and strength in our times of need? The answer is that every person has a missing piece in their life, that can only be truly satisfied by a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

I know many people seek hope through such other faiths as: Islam, Hinduism, and many others, however all of these, in some form or fashion, involve attempting to merit eternal peace, via the following of man made rituals and good deeds. Attempting to place one’s faith and eternal destiny in a religion based upon man made rules is very futile, because the men/women, who make the rules, will always change the rules to suit their own agenda. In addition a person could never know whether they’ve done enough good deeds to merit entrance into paradise/ascension into a higher consciousness/Heaven. This leads to a lot of frustration with followers of other religions, and results in many people abandoning their beliefs completely.

The Word of God, makes it clear that we were all born sinners(Romans 3:23), and demonstrates that we cannot live upright lives by our own laws, nor can we keep God’s laws. The wonderful news is that since we can’t live up to God’s standards, He loved all of us so deeply that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to redeem us and to be our mediator. By accepting Jesus into one’s heart, the believer’s hope does not rest in rigorously attempting to keep a list of rules, but instead our faith is in Christ’s finished work at the cross. We rely on the Holy Spirit living within us to empower us to help us resist temptation, and to live a life that testifies that God has changed us. Furthermore, we have a 100% assurance that when our mortal life is over, we will be welcomed into God’s kingdom.

It is a wonderful thing to know that the Creator of the Universe has you and I on His mind, and makes Himself available to us 24hrs. a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Just as a loving earthly Father enjoys spending time with their child; offering them guidance, wiping away their tears, encouraging the child to never give up, etc…; God desires to do the same for us, and so much more. Because He is the Creator of this world and each of us, God knows the outcome of every decision that we will make. He will never force us to do anything, but instead offers us the “free will” to either seek Him or do things our own way. While people may promise us one thing, and then do something completely different, we can always trust god and take Him at His word. The Bible is filled with God’s promises to guide and care for all who place their trust in Him, and His warning of the consequences that will eventually come to pass for those who choose to live in sin.

God holds pastors responsible for sharing the Word of God with their flocks; And then once believers are seasoned in the Word, we should share it with those outside of the church walls, who are unsaved. With direct access to Jesus Christ, via prayer and the Bible, there is no excuse for anyone to be lost. If the preacher, deacon, mother, or friend is discovered to be a hypocrite, while it may hurt our feelings, we must not allow their actions to hinder us from staying faithful to Jesus Christ.

No matter what you’ve done in the past, God will forgive you. The Bible is filled with men and women, who had feelings of inadequacy or who made horrible choices, however when they chose to seek God and place their trust in Him, the Lord was able to accomplish great things through them:

Jacob was a cheater; Peter had a temper; David had an affair; Noah got drunk; Jonah ran from God; Paul was a murderer; Sampson was arrogant and a womanizer; Gideon was insecure; RAHAB was a prostitute; Miriam was a gossiper; Martha was a worrier; The SAMARITAN WOMAN was divorced…more than once; JOB went bankrupt; Thomas was a doubter; Sara was impatient; Elijah was moody; Moses stuttered; Zaccheus was short; Abraham was old and Lazarus was dead.

Just like all of the people listed above, God has a plan and a purpose for all of us. Because He has formed each of us in our mother’s womb, God is not subject to any of the biases and prejudices that divide human beings.

1 Samuel 16:7
But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

His arms are outstretched, ready to receive each of us regardless of our: race, gender, nationality, social status and any other demographic we can think of.

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you have the power to change your tomorrow, by choosing to seek God and trust Him today.

PRAYER OF SALVATION:
God, I come to you, confessing that I am a sinner.
I Repent of all my wrongdoings, and I ask for your forgiveness.
I now confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, died for my sins, and rose again for my justification.
I invite Jesus to; come into my heart, clean up my life, and guide my decisions from this day forward.
Thank You, Jesus for saving me!
