Lord,
As our current president, Barack Obama, prepares to leave office, I pray that you will keep he and his family protected, just as You have over the past eight years. I ask that you would guide them, and help them to grow closer and know You better, as they begin the next chapter of their life.
Now, I lift our incoming President, Donald Trump, and his family & administration up to You. I pray for protection over all of them. His demeanor is quite different from any president we’ve had in recent memory. I ask that You would touch His heart, and help him to not rely on his own intellect, but to seek Your guidance in his decision making. Teach him to have an understanding spirit, and a willingness to reach out to and bridge the gap with those who have concerns regarding the direction of our nation.
We know that while we are called upon to respect those who are placed in authority over us; our ultimate faith and dependence must be in You and the principles You have outlined in Your Word.
Help as many of us as will call upon You, to continue to look to You for leadership in working to improve our communities, so that there will be hope for our next generation. The only road to making America Great, or any other nation, is by having leaders and a population who looks to Jesus Christ first.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Romans 13:1-5
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
