Do You Possess Spiritual Fruit?

Do You Possess Spiritual Fruit

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, goodness, faithfulness, (23) gentleness, self-control. Again such there is no law.
Spirit” There is a question here whether Paul means specifically the works done by a person’s regenerated human spirit, or works done by the Holy Spirit Himself in (you) the believers life. The fruit analogy is reminiscent of Jesus’ teaching on the vine, branches, and fruitful harvest.

The True Vine
John 15:1-5 I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine dresser. (2) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. (3) You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. (4) Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. (5) I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Brothers and sisters, the heart of the matter: If the Spirit is in you, then He will begin a transformational work in you that will be manifested by the display of these traits. You and I as believer’s can’t excuse ungodly behavior by saying “that’s just the way I am.” That’s like a pear tree bearing apples. We are works in progress, but our actions will inevitably reveal the fruit we produced.

Pick one of the godly traits identified in Galatians 5:22-23 and ask the Spirit to develop it in you.

Heavenly Father, work in me so that the fruit of the Spirit will be evident in my life.

Accept Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, today. Today is the day of salvation. Now is the accepted time. You may not really have tomorrow. Salvation is a free gift. Have a Blessed Day.

  1. There was a time I longed for fruit that was tangible — much the way audience size and readership are emphasized. But that misses the whole point. The fruit of the Spirit is internal. Our hearts are changed by Christ’s love. That cannot be quantified. Have a blessed Christmas!
