Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Standards of speech for Christians are extremely high: no corrupt word is permitted.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
Friends, when you and I become disconnected with Christ Jesus, we begin to complain. We must be careful that our complaining does not pass on to others. Therefore let your light shine.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
As believers, we don’t have inherent light; rather we have reflective light. As we behold the glory of the Lord, we reflect it. Therefore, you and I need to make sure that nothing comes between us and the Lord’s light.
II Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
This is a description of the gradual process of sanctification.
