Reputation: Like It OR Not, You Are What You Post

Reputation the belief or opinions that are generally held about someone or something.

Ecclesiasts 7:1
A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.

A person’s death may be better than the day of birth if the name of that person has merited a lasting reputation and influence.

Proverbs 22:1
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

This proverb points out that a reputation has more value than possessions or wealth. A name cannot be replaced easily, not even with lots of money.

1 Peter 2:12
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Brothers and sisters, it can take a lifetime to build a reputation. It only takes a single “post” “thread” on social media Face Book to destroy it. This is the dark side of social media especially for evangelists, pastors, and teachers (Ephesians 4:11).” but true of everyone.”
Social media has a tremendous upside and has proven that it can be a valuable asset to advance vision and influence of individuals, businesses, or ministries. Social media has that kind of influence, but like nitroglycerin: useful when handled with care but “terminal” if handled wrongly. Social media has also fostered an environment for toxic self-expressions. There might be something, you would never say to someone face-to-face, that social restraints disappear when it comes to social media.

Brothers and sisters, you and I as Christians and especially those of us who are called evangelist, pastors, teachers, and ministers, ought to be highly sensitive to this danger and heed the Bible’s multiple warnings regarding the tongue. (James 3:6)

1. Does what I’m about to post represent Jesus Christ in a positive light?

Proverbs 15:1-2
1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

2. Does what I’m about to post represent me in a positive or negative light?

Like it or not, to people on social media you are what you post and you should care what others think.

Accept Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, today. Today is the day of salvation. Now is the accepted time. You may not have tomorrow. Salvation is a free gift. Have a Blessed Day.
