In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
A millionaire leaves his fortune to his oldest son.
A daughter inherits a timeless heirloom from her mother.
Both of these examples illustrate an inheritance. The legal document used to enact such transactions is called a will.
Paul explains that God also has a will and Christians have an inheritance. God’s will, though similar to earthly wills, differs in significant ways.
1. Love ones promise an earthly inheritance; God provides a heavenly one.
2. A grandparent leaves behind temporal riches; God supplies eternal rewards.
3. Earthly wills can be broken; God’s will is promised forever.
Before the beginning of time, God planned an inheritance for us through Jesus. He penned it through His life.. He signed it with the currency of His own blood. And He sealed it by His victory over the grave.
God’s inheritance is yours through repentance and faith in Jesus.
Are you in the will?
