Here’s another message from my cousin, Edward Jeffries.
What Have You Deposited In The Bank – Your Spiritual Bank Account
What is YOUR Balance? Sufficient/Insufficient
Deuteronomy 32:4 The Song of Moses
2 Corinthians 8:9 Christ our Pattern
Ephesians 2:4-7 By Grace Through Faith
2 Thessalonians 3:3 Pray for Us
Psalm 9:10 Prayer & Thanksgiving for the Lord’s Righteous Judgment
Hebrews 4:16 Our Compassionate High Priest
I remember watching the CNN broadcast of a large passenger plane making an emergency landing in New York’s Hudson River. The pilot, Captain Chesley Sullenberger, who landed the plane safely with no casualties, was asked about those moments in the air when he was faced with a life-or-death decision. Captain Sullenberger thought of his decision making was due in large to 42 years he had been making small regular deposits in his bank of experience, education and training. On that day the balance was SUFFICIENT so that he could make a large withdrawal.
Brothers and Sisters, at some point in time you and I will face a crisis. The crisis could be a job termination or the results of a medical test, loss of a precious family member or friend. Brothers and Sisters, it is in those times that you and I must dig, dig deep into the reserve of our SPIRITUAL BANK ACCOUNT.
Have we made sufficient deposits. What might we find there? If we have enjoyed a deepening relationship with God, we’ve been making regular “deposits” of faith.
1. We have experience His grace
2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.
Ephesians 2:4-7 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us. (5) Even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),(6) and raised up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
2. We must trust the promises of Scripture that God is just and faithful.
Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
Brothers and Sisters, God’s love and grace are available when His children need to make a “withdrawal.”
Psalm 9:10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You. For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
