So why do we need a judicial system?
Our current world system rejects the God of the Bible, and instead teaches people to idolize themselves and others. It glorifies the rich and powerful, and oppresses those who are poor. This world system worships little gods such as: money, people, and in some cases evil spirits.
The problem originates from mankind inheriting a sin nature from Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden. This sin nature and Satan’s continual deception influences people to lie, steal, use profanity, commit adultery, murder exalt themselves, etc
God is Holy and righteous, and will not allow any sinful person entrance into Heaven, and our sinful action will ultimately result in eternal separation from God, if we continue down this path.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Because He knows that so many people will reject doing what is good and righteous, God allows the governments and judicial system to exist in order to keep a degree of order on the Earth, otherwise the sin within us would drive us to ultimately destroy each other and the entire planet.
Another major reason for the judicial system is to put a halt to sinful actions, and prevent people from spending an eternity in Hell. In His infinite wisdom, God’s desire is that a person who commits a crime would be admonished and punished for their actions by the judicial system. As a result, the person would consider the negative direction their life is headed in, and turn to God. It is better to temporarily spend time in prison, pay a hefty fine, or have to do community service, then to continue living a successful sinful life and ultimately suffer unending punishment.
Now let’s be clear that God is fully aware that((like all human beings) these judges and politicians are vulnerable to corruption, however they are needed to keep a degree of order in the world.
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
God wants peace, happiness, and safety for each of us, which is why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us. The only way we can overcome the sin within us is to accept God’s gift of salvation and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our decision making.
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
THE DIFFERNCE BETWEEN GOD’S JUDGMENTS AND MAN’S
II Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
–Man puts degrees on crimes/sin, and may demand death, whether the criminal is repentant or not.
An innocent person could be unjustly convicted and sentence to life in prison or death
–There is no big sin/little sin in God’s eyes, and He will always forgive & accept a repentant person, no matter what they’ve done.
A violent gang member can be convicted of murder, sentenced to the death penalty, get saved while on death row, and when they die Jesus will welcome them into heaven with the same love that He would for a faithful Church Mother or Pastor.
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
The wisest thing each of us can do is to first recognize that we are sinners, and are therefore at the mercy of the lusts of the flesh, mentioned in Galations 5. It is these lusts of the flesh that cause people to fall into the wrong side of our judicial system. That being said, I’d like to encourage each of you to examine your life, and the direction it is heading in. If you are doing things that could land you in jail or even cost you your life, I want you to know that Jesus Christ wants to help you turn things around and get your life heading in the right direction that leads to success, freedom, and ultimately an eternity spent in the presence of His love. It all begins by accepting Him as your personal Savior.
