What Road Map Are You Following?

This was written by my grandmother many years ago:

I would like to tell you that there are two road maps. You might say, “How can there be two road maps?” Let me name them for you.

There is a heavenly road map and there is an earthly road map. For each one of us, the question is this: Which one are you following?

The heavenly road map is the Bible, which is the word of God. In order to travel the heavenly road, you must be born again. God sent His only begotten Son (John 3:16), and His name is Jesus. He died on the cross and shed His blood to wash away our sins. All we have to do is repent by asking Jesus to forgive us of our sins. Nothing but the righteous can travel on the heavenly road. Matthew 7:14 lets us know, “Strait is the gate and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life.” John 14:6 says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by Me. The Bible, which is the word of God, will keep you on the heavenly road. You will not come to a dead end. On this straight and heavenly road there is eternal life (Matthew 19:16). On this heavenly road is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The thing I love about this heavenly road is that I am not alone at any time. None of God’s children are alone, and that’s good to know. On this heavenly road there is no stop sign. John 14:1 says, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God believe also in me.” So we don’t have to walk around trouble. We are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). Jesus is the light in us. There is healing, peace, and joy in Him. When we are going through trials and tribulations, we can have peace of mind because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. When you are burdened you can cast them upon the Lord (Psalm 55:22). The heavenly road map will instruct and teach us the way which thou shall go (I will guide thee with mine eye – Psalm 32:8). Psalm 112:7 says, “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.” We are the beloved of the Lord (Deuteronomy 33:12).

Broad and wide is the road that will cause you to travel in all kinds of directions, which is the earthly road map. It will keep us from getting on the heavenly road by showing us so many wrong things of this world. The devil will do whatever he can to keep us on this road so he can destroy us. Some of the ways he tries to keep us from coming to the Lord are by telling us that we have plenty of time, or that everyone is doing it. The devil will set every kind of temptation before us. The devil will tell us that we have plenty of time. He will tell us others are doing it. I want to tell you that the devil is a deceiver. Jesus is a receiver, no matter what we have done. He will forgive us of our sins if we ask Him. We don’t have to travel the devil’s road map. There are so many dangerous curves on it.
